Ear Collective - Call for Installation, Sculpture and Video Art

EAR Collective invite guests to take part in our launch show at Candid Gallery Islington, we are looking for Sculpture, Installation and Video works, from London based artists

EAR (Experimental Art Rising) are a growing London-based artist-led collective dedicated to rasing voices on the art world fringe. We are made up of visual artists, performers, filmmakers, and writers. Recently formed by Evelyn J Marshall (London based Artist and Creator of EXI show) and Kathryn Mason, (UK based artist and curator).

Our launch event will take place at London's Candid Gallery entiled "Third Places / Non Places"

Third places are informal social environments separate from home (the frist place) and work (the second place) where people gather, interact and build community. They are characterised by their relaxed, unstructured atmosphere, and a neutral ground where people gather voluntarily for conversation, and a sense of belonging. Examples: Cafes, pubs, parks, libraries, nightclubs.
Non-places, coined by Marc Auge, are transient, impersonal spaces that lack identity, history, or meaningful social interaction. People pass through them without forming connections or a sense of belonging. They are codified, anonymous and interchangeable, and designed for transit, circulation, consumption or temporary use, with minimal social interaction. Examples: airports, motorways, hotel chains, shopping centres.
Where do you and the art gallery fit?
We encourage artists to interpet this theme in your own way, which could include your sense of place in the world, themes of alienation and belonging or ambiguous places that straddle the two.
As artists ourselves, we appreciate the need to ensure there are tangible benefits for any selected artist in return for paying a fair (for central London) participation fee to cover hire and running costs, etc.
We will be promoting any successful applicants in social media posts across instagram along with targeted sponsored advertising along with press listings, etc.
Succesful Sculpture / Installation artists will be required to pay £50 to participate.
Each selected artists should expect approximately 1.5 to 2 metres of floor space
We will also be selecting suitable video works to be screened on a loop in the gallery and those artists selected will be required to pay a participation fee of £20 (instead of £50), video length up to 10 minutes.
Please note that the Candid Gallery takes 25% comission on any work for sale, this is not affiliated with the Ear Collective and was a condition of hire.
